Lucknow: A man allegedly beat his seven-month pregnant wife to death at Khaloua village under Malpura in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Sunday. After the murder, the husband also committed suicide. The family members hurriedly cremated the bodies of both of them behind the house. Police reached the spot after receiving information on Monday morning. Both bodies were burnt. Ashes and bones were found on the spot. The police have registered a case of murder and destruction of evidence. Haribabu, a resident of Atus (Sikandra) village, had married his daughter Preeti (25) to Krishnaveer alias Krishna, a resident of Khaloua, three and a half years ago. Krishnaveer used to do the work of grinding stones. They have a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Preeti was pregnant. At 10 am on Monday, the parents informed the police that the in-laws had killed Preeti and Krishnaveer and cremated the bodies. After getting information, police officials reached the spot. A forensic team was called. But the in-laws were not found on the spot, the whole family is absconding. In the initial investigation, the police found that Krishnaveer had a dispute with his wife. He beat his wife to death. He then hanged himself. The family burnt the bodies of both of them to avoid the police. Preeti's parents were also not informed. Father Haribabu alleged that the in-laws did not like Preeti and her husband. They killed both. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case of murder and destruction of evidence.
