Fire breaks out in Meerut's textile showroom, loss of lakhs reported

Meerut: A massive fire breaks out in sari showroom located in Sadar Bazar, Meerut, UP on Tuesday. After receiving the information, dozens of fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and were able to control the fire after hours of effort while evacuating nearby shops. The loss of lakhs of rupees is being reported in the incident.

Harendra Singh alias Bire, who lives in Lal Kurti, near the Sadar Kali temple has a showroom of fancy dress and sari. According to traders in the area, a sudden fire broke out in the first floor of the showroom on Tuesday afternoon. Seeing the high flames of fire rising from the showroom, the whole market was stirred up. As soon as the incident was reported, fire brigade vehicles from the fire stations across the city left for the spot. However, due to the narrow lanes, the fire had taken a formidable form by the time the fire brigade reached the spot.

Police and fire brigade staff also stopped the traffic on both sides and evacuated the shops around the showroom for safety. Fire personnel managed to control the fire after hours of hard work. There is talk of loss of millions in the fire. The owner of the showroom is still in shock since the incident. According to Fire Department officials, the cause of the fire is possibly being told as a short circuit.
