Lucknow: A Dalit man was brutally beaten up by some members of the Muslim community while he was returning after immersing the idol of Maa Durga after Navratri in Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad. Not only this but the accused also hurled casteist abuses at the victim and also threatened to kill him if he complained to the police. Ankur Kumar, a resident of Nagla Jhamman in Linepar under the Tundla police station area of Firozabad district, said in his complaint to the police that he was returning home after immersing Maa Durga on October 6, 2022 (Wednesday). Meanwhile, Naeem, son of Laik, a resident of Nagla Masjid, along with two brothers and five-six others, stopped him on the way. After this, they started abusing him through casteist words. When Ankur protested, all the miscreants together beat him up and snatched the money kept in his pocket in public. Not only this, the accused threatened the victim that if he complained to the police, he would kill him. The accused threatened Ankur and said that whoever comes to speak in support of Ankur will also not survive. In view of the threat to his life, Ankur has lodged a complaint at Tundla police station. Uttar Pradesh Police has said that legal action is underway in this regard.
