Raipur: Police have arrested three persons, including Youth Congress district president Mohammad Shahnawaz, in connection with the gangrape of a 16-year-old minor in Chhattisgarh's Mahendragarh district. The incident took place in Chirmiri town under Mahendragarh. The minor girl from this town was forcibly taken to a hotel in Bilaspur four months ago by six people, including Congress leader Shahnawaz. There everyone gang-raped the minor. During that time, the minor did not file a case out of fear.

Now on the basis of the victim's complaint, Chirmiri police have registered a case under sections 363, 366A, 376D of IPC and section 46 of the POCSO Act. After registering an FIR under these sections, the police arrested Shahnawaz and the three other accused. At the same time, two criminals are still said to be absconding, who are being searched.
On March 25 this year, a married woman from Chikhli police station in Rajnandgaon filed a rape case against city Congress committee secretary Vikas Gajbhiye. The woman is Vikas's neighbour. In the complaint, the woman had also accused the Congress leader of threatening to kill her husband. After this, the accused was arrested.
