Lucknow: A minor gang-rape victim has committed suicide by hanging herself in Uttar Pradesh's Ambedkar Nagar. The victim's family has alleged that the Ambedkar Nagar police was not taking any action against the accused in this case. Due to this, their daughter was in shock, due to which she gave her life in depression. In this case, Superintendent of Police Ajit Kumar Sinha has suspended the SO as the line attach and the sub-inspector.

The incident took place in a village under Malipur police station area of Ambedkar Nagar. The victim's parents had gone to Durga Puja, during which the minor committed suicide by hanging herself on the night of October 4, 2022. The family says that their daughter has lost her life due to the negligence of the police. The administration should take action against the accused policemen and arrest the accused as soon as possible. According to reports, the 15-year-old student was abducted on September 16, 2022. The family members had lodged a case of kidnapping at the police station. On September 18, the victim reached her home and told her family that she had been gang-raped at a hotel in Lucknow. After this, the family members reached the police station with the victim and they filed a case of gang rape. But, according to the family, instead of taking action, the police started pressurising them to settle the case.

At the same time, the victim was in depression after coming back home. In the complaint given to the police, the victim had told that 'On September 16, I was returning home from school. But, about 1 kilometre away from the house, I saw a woman from the village and a man named Arshad. Meanwhile, some masked people got down from a car on the spot and forcibly made me sit in the car. The woman and Arshad were also present on the spot at the time of the incident.' The victim further told that 'After this, these people took me to a hotel in Lucknow and gang-raped me there. Those people were telling me that if you make noise, will kill you here. They kept me locked in a room for two days. I was imprisoned in this room hungry and thirsty for two days. On September 18, I ran home from Lucknow after somehow getting out of there. After reaching home, I told the whole thing to the family members.

Let me tell you that after the victim committed suicide, this case was noticed. While the locals are angry with the incident, questions are now being raised about the police. In defence, the police have said that they had sent the victim for a medical check-up after receiving the complaint. A case was also registered against two persons on the complaint of the family.
