'Hindu religion is not good,' accused arrested for trying to convert 40 Hindus to Christianity

Lucknow: Kamlesh Tiwari has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district for promoting Christianity and forcing him to become a Christian. On the evening of December 31, 2022, the accused had set up a chaupal and was luring people to convert to Christianity. A person present there complained to the police, after which the accused was arrested.

It is alleged that 45-year-old Kamlesh Kumar, who runs a grocery shop, had set up a chaupal in his house in Tikar Majra Malehra in Hardoi. He was luring about 40 people involved in various types of seductions to convert to Christianity. A local journalist tweeted, "In Hardoi, about half a hundred men and women were gathered inside the house, the police arrested the accused and sent him to jail, the case of Tikar Majra Malehra of Sandila Kotwali area was being roused to convert to Christianity by putting up a chaupal inside the house.''

Inspector-in-charge of Sandila police station Dharmendra Giri has informed that Kamlesh, who runs a grocery shop, had organized a party at his house in Tikar Majra, in which more than 40 people attended. Apart from job and employment, Kamlesh had lured them with regular financial assistance. Giri told that 'Bablu Dayal, one of the people present there, informed the police that Kamlesh first tried to convince everyone that Hinduism was not good and later forced the innocent locals to convert to Christianity.' At the same time, Hardoi police have also given information about the incident by tweeting. Police have said that the accused Kamlesh has been arrested and sent to jail under Uttar Pradesh Law Against Religion Conversion Prohibition Act-2021.
