PM to hold 2nd National Meet of Chief Secretaries in Delhi today

New Delhi: In a bid to further stregnthen the partnership between the Central government and the State governments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the second National Conference of Chief Secretaries in Delhi, Friday and Saturday, January 6 and 7.

The three-day Conference's main goal is to work with the States to achieve quick and sustained economic growth. According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, more than 200 bureaucrats, including central government representatives, chief secretaries, and other senior officials of all States and Union Territories, would attend.
With a focus on growth, job creation, and inclusive human development, the Conference will provide the groundwork for coordinated action to create a developed India.
The conference's programme was taken following thorough discussion during more than 150 physical and virtual consultation meetings held over the course of the previous three months amongst nodal Ministries, NITI Aayog, States/UTs, and subject matter experts. Focus on MSMEs; Infrastructure and Investments; Minimizing Compliances; Women's Empowerment; Health and Nutrition; and Skill Development are the six identified themes that will be discussed throughout the conference.

3 special sessions will also be held on Viksit Bharat namely, "Reaching the Last Mile", "5 Years of Goods and Services Tax (GST) - Learnings and Experiences" and "Global Geopolitical Challenges and India's Response".  Further, discussions would be concentrated on the following four issues  viz.,Emerging Technologies; Vocal for Local; International Year of Millets.

The Conference will also feature presentations of best practises from States and UTs related to each of the themes so that the States can share knowledge.

Prior to the main conference, three virtual conferences on the subjects of Districts like the Fulcrum of Development, Circular Economy, and Model UTs were also held with the states and UTs as per the Prime Minister's instructions. The National Conference of Chief Secretaries would receive the results of these virtual conferences.
