Smuggling liquor in ambulance, smuggler injured in encounter

Bagpat: The cases of smuggling of liquor in UP have also increased as the panchayat elections came close. Criminals for smuggling liquor are now making ambulances a medium. In Bagpat, police have arrested two accused for smuggling liquor. A smuggler was also injured in a police firing. In fact, in the past night, the police recovered 50 boxes of liquor brought in ambulances from Haryana.

The police had arrested one of the accused in the meantime. When the police arrived at Yamuna Khadar, the accused shot at the police. In response, the police also fired. The smuggler was injured by a police bullet. The police and excise teams were jointly combing the Niwara police post in the Bagpat Kotwali area on the UP-Haryana border at 2 pm last night.

Meanwhile, an ambulance from the Sonipat district of Haryana was intercepted by the police. On checking, 50 boxes of liquor have been recovered. The accused said that the liquor is being smuggled from Sonipat, while his other companion is hiding in Yamuna khadar with smuggled liquor. After which the police took the accused and arrested another smuggler in Yamuna Khadar, he fired at the police, after which the other accused was injured in a leg, reply firing by the police.

The injured accused, Sikandar Singh, is said to be a resident of Delhi. He has been admitted to the District Hospital for treatment. The police have also arrested Sikandar's accomplice Sandeep Sharma resident of Bihar. Police have recovered 50 cases of English liquor Haryana Marka from the accused also pistol, cartridge, and ambulance.
