New Delhi: The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, made a visit to Rail Bhawan in New Delhi where he held a crucial meeting with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. The focus of their discussion centered on bolstering rail infrastructure within the state. During this significant encounter, Chief Minister Dhami earnestly implored the Railway Minister to expedite the much-anticipated construction of the Tankpur-Bageshwar railway line. This request was driven by the impending operation of the Vande Bharat Express service between Lucknow and Dehradun, coupled with the pressing need to expand rail services in the mountainous regions of the state. Chief Minister Dhami specifically appealed for the introduction of direct rail connections between Ahmedabad and key Uttarakhand destinations such as Kathgodam, Haridwar, and Dehradun. In a bid to enhance connectivity further, he also proposed the introduction of a new rail service linking Tanakpur to Mehandipur Balaji in Rajasthan. Emphasizing the potential benefits of an expanded rail network, the Chief Minister underscored that improved transportation would ease the lives of Uttarakhand's residents and cater to the needs of the burgeoning tourist influx. As Uttarakhand is renowned for its vibrant tourism sector, he highlighted that this initiative would not only facilitate travel but also fortify the state's economy.
