With the commencement of buses operations in Uttarakhand, the Transport Corporation management has shown generosity. The management has announced to abolish the 20 percent surcharge in passenger fares. With this decision, passengers will now have to pay only 66.7% of the increased fare instead of double fare. In the event of operation of roadways buses in the plains, passengers were being charged at the rate of Rs 1.26 per km which was doubled by the government. It was proposed to collect from the passengers at the rate of Rs 2.52 per km, but now the passengers will have to pay the fare at the rate of Rs 2.10 per km. Similarly, in the hilly areas, now passengers will have to pay Rs 3.10 per km instead of Rs 3.78. There is a rapid increase in the number of passengers in the coming time, the fare can be reduced by giving more relief. 3400 officers and employees of the Transport Corporation will now be able to get treatment under the Uttarakhand Atal Ayushman Scheme. The board meeting of the Transport Corporation, chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash, approved the proposal to provide treatment facilities to officers and employees under the Atal Ayushman Yojana. The benefits of Ayushman scheme can be given. For this, first-class officers will have to deposit Rs 400 per month, second class officers Rs 300 and third class employees Rs 200 per month. The employee's unions have expressed happiness about this decision taken in the board. Transport Corporation Managing Director Ranveer Singh Chauhan informed that now officers and employees will also get the benefit of Atal Ayushman Yojana. Employees other than contract workers, operators and other employees are already being provided facility under the ESI. Employees' organizations have expressed happiness over the board's decision to give the benefit of the Atal Ayushman scheme to the officers and employees of the Transport Corporation. State General Secretary of Uttaranchal Roadways Employees Union Ashok Chaudhary says that a decision in this regard should have been taken long ago.
