Dehradun: Four convicts including mother and aunt have been sentenced to life imprisonment for selling a minor girl in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. They had together traded a minor girl for Rs. 20000. There was another convict in the case, who is already dead. The incident came to light in 2015 at Tildukari in Pithoragarh. Uttarakhand police, anti-human trafficking team and some conscious people had arrested the men who were dealing with the minor girl. The minor's mother name is Vimla Karki while the name of aunt who is among the accused, is Ganga. Akram Khan, Jamil Ahmed and Taslim from UP were also arrested. Akram Khan was preparing to take the minor to Uttar Pradesh on the pretext of marriage and push him into flesh trade. The minor was with them when the police arrested them. The court had on Monday (July 13, 2021) decided in the ongoing case. District public prosecutor Pramod Pant and advocate Prem Singh Bhandari defended the police while defending on behalf of the victim.
