Uttarakhand: Notice issued against three former chief ministers for not paying electricity and water bill for years

Dehradun: Three former CMs of Uttarakhand are in the headlines these days regarding separate recovery notices from the politics. The State Property Department has issued a recovery notice to these three former Chief Ministers of Uttarakhand. The department has sent notices to Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Vijay Bahuguna to pay the arrears of water and electricity. Bhagat Singh Koshyari owes electricity and water of about 11 lakhs, Vijay Bahuguna 3.5 lakhs, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank about four lakh rupees.

Let us tell you that the High Court had ordered the former Chief Ministers of the state to recover their house rent at the market rate. On this, the Uttarakhand government brought an ordinance to free these facilities by 31 March 2019. This ordinance has been challenged in the High Court. Nothing has been said about the water-electricity dues bill in this ordinance. Therefore, the property department has issued these notices to the three former chief ministers.

Let us tell you that the former CM Bhagat Singh Koshiyari has outstanding electricity and water bill of about 11 lakhs, Vijay Bahuguna and about 3.5 million rupees on Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, due to which he will be asked to fill this bill as soon as possible. Notice has been issued. At the same time, the State Property Department has to file an affidavit in the High Court with reference to the action.
