Chennai: Amid the ongoing tussle between the government and the Supreme Court over the appointment of judges, the case of Hothraya Victoria Gowri has been dismissed in the SC. Some lawyers had approached the Supreme Court after lawyer LC Victoria Gowri was appointed as a judge of the Madras High Court. There were demands to stop her from taking an oath. However, this morning Victoria was sworn in as a high court judge. In fact, the Madras High Court circular had already been issued. The BJP connection was also revealed in the case of preventing Victoria from becoming a judge. The petition filed in the apex court mentioned his association with the BJP and his statements against the Muslim-Christian community. Three lawyers of the Madras High Court had filed the petition, but the apex court did not accept these arguments. The petitioners had referred to the tweet made in 2019 from an unconfirmed account. According to this, Victoria has been the national general secretary of the BJP Mahila Morcha. Not only this, but the basis of the protest was also two alleged interviews of Victoria, in which she made statements against Muslims and the Christian community. Earlier, the central government had cleared 13 names, including Gowri, for appointment as high court judges. Till now, advocate Gowri had been representing the central government as an additional solicitor general in the Madurai bench. Some lawyers of the Madras High Court Bar Association had written to the Chief Justice opposing her. The lawyers alleged that the advocate has made many controversial statements against the Muslim and Christian communities. Adani Returns!
