New Delhi: Controversial journalist Rana Ayyub has received a major setback from the Supreme Court. In fact, the apex court has dismissed Rana Ayyub's petition in the money laundering case. In such a situation, now the threat of arrest on Rana Ayyub has started looming. Rana Ayyub had challenged the order of a special court in Ghaziabad in the money laundering case. The special court had ordered Rana Ayyub to appear for the hearing, but she did not want to appear for the investigation. After the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a charge sheet, the special court ordered Ayyub to appear. The matter was earlier scheduled to be heard on January 27. Later, on January 31, the apex court heard the matter. The decision of which has come today (7 February).

Senior advocate Vrinda Grover argued in the apex court on behalf of Rana Ayyub. She had told the court that her client Rana Ayyub was asked by a special court in Ghaziabad to appear on December 27, 2022. She had asked the apex court to stop this. The Supreme Court had stayed the appearance of Rana Ayyub till the order was given, but now if the petition is dismissed, Rana Ayyub will have to appear in the special court of Ghaziabad. Rana Ayyub was earlier granted bail by the court in the money laundering case, but in the charge sheet, the ED has submitted evidence against her to the court. In such a situation, the special court can also order the arrest of Rana Ayyub.

According to the investigating agency, journalist Rana Ayyub had illegally raised funds through the online platform 'Ketto'. Rana is accused of raising crores in the name of helping the poor during the crisis period of the Corona epidemic but did not use that money properly. She is accused of misusing the money collected. After taking cognizance of this, the ED registered a case against Rana Ayyub. It is now believed that Rana Ayyub can be arrested after the application is dismissed by the Supreme Court. Â
