Kolkata: Leader of the Opposition in the Bengal Legislative Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, was holding a rally at Tarakeswar in Hooghly district on Thursday (September 8). During this rally, he faced heavy opposition. During the rally, Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers showed him black flags and raised slogans against him. During this, there was a violent clash between the workers of BJP and TMC and both groups started throwing stones at each other. In this violent clash, 10 people were injured, who were taken to the hospital for treatment. Three of the injured have received more injuries and have been admitted to Tarakeswar Rural Hospital. While 7 people had minor injuries, they have been sent home after giving first aid. The incident took place when BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari reached Tarakeswar to address a political rally and was shown black flags by TMC workers. BJP workers claimed that TMC workers were trying to disrupt the rally. The rally was organized to criticize the TMC regime over allegations of corruption, with senior leader Rahul Sinha also alleging that stones were thrown at the participants. A group of people waved black flags in the procession, following which BJP members accused the protesters, a police official said.
