New Delhi: The Standing Committee of the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) has given the green signal for the construction of a new Indian Air Force (IAF) base in Ladakh. Let us know that this is the same place where the face-off between Indian and Chinese soldiers continues. This place is located close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC). There has been a standoff between Indian and Chinese troops since May 2020. The approval was given during a high-level meeting on July 29. The base will be built at Changtang Wildlife Sanctuary, with an area of about 508 hectares. Its distance is not far from the India-China border (LAC).

NBWL has approved 8 different defence projects. All these projects will be made in Changtang and Karakoram Wildlife. These steps are being taken by the Government of India along the lines of China. China is also strengthening its security in the areas adjacent to the border, in the meantime, India has also made up its mind to strengthen the security on the border through these infrastructures. After this approval, the Ministry of Defense will also need permission from the Environment Department. Because this place is included in the safe areas of Ladakh. NBWL has also put a condition before the Ministry of Defense with this approval. They said "Department officials and responsible workers will be allowed to enter the project area so that they can continue to do their duties without any problem.''

The Government of India is going to create an upgraded infrastructure around LAC. The Standing Committee has cleared another proposal besides setting up an IAF base. In this, a firing range field will be built on the land of 1,259 hectares Changtang Wildlife Sanctuary. Along with this, the department has also approved the upgradation of three main roads.
