Violence erupts in Jehanabad amid Bihar Bandh

PATNA: Activists set fire to a bus, truck, and two other vehicles in Jehanabad on Saturday, despite the ongoing Bihar Bandh in response to the huge violence over the Agnipath army recruiting scheme.

On the Patna-Gaya highway, the incident occurred near the Tehta police outpost.

A police party was also stoned by the mob, which resulted in the injury of a sub-inspector rank officer. The injured sub-inspector was identified as Deeraj Kumar, in-charge of the Tehta police station.

Following the violence, the DM and SP of Jehanabad came to the scene with a large number of police officers and launched a lathi-charge to disperse the agitators.

Other than Jahanabad, there have been no reports of violence in other areas.

In the violence-plagued districts of Kaimur, Rohtas, Bhojpur, Aurangabad, Buxar, Nawada, West Champaran, Samastipur, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Vaishali, and Saran, phone and Internet services have been suspended.
