Chandigarh: A shopkeeper in Haryana's Sonipat district became the victim of a violent robbery on Saturday night. Identified as Rajesh, he operates a grocery store in Bahalgarh village. The incident unfolded when three miscreants on bikes approached Rajesh and attempted to snatch cash from his shop. When Rajesh resisted, one of the culprits shot him in the shoulder. Following the attack, the robbers fled the scene with money and a digital video recorder from the shop. In response to the robbery, fellow shopkeepers in the village staged a protest. They closed their shops and blocked roads, demanding swift action from authorities to apprehend the perpetrators. Rajesh was promptly taken to a nearby private hospital on Bahalgarh Road for treatment. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. The exact amount of cash stolen will be determined after recording Rajesh's statement, as he is currently undergoing medical treatment. Meanwhile, in another unfortunate incident, a tragic accident occurred in Sikkim's Gangtok district on Saturday evening. During a Tambola program in Ranipool, a truck lost control and crashed into the event venue. As a result of the collision, three individuals lost their lives, and 20 others sustained injuries. Gangtok District Magistrate Tushar Nikhare confirmed the incident, stating that the injured individuals were receiving medical treatment at Manipal Hospital.
