West Bengal: A three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed by West Bengal Police on Tuesday to investigate the murder of a student at Aliah University in the state. CID's Additional Director General of Police, Gyanwant Singh, will lead the probe. The Investigation Team would also submit its findings within 15 days, according to the West Bengal government's formal directive. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee directed the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by the Director-General of Police on Monday, days after demonstrations erupted over the death of a student from Aliah University. Anis Khan, an Aliah University student was found dead outside his residence in Howrah's Amta neighbourhood on Friday night. Four police officers who had come to look for their son allegedly threw him from the roof of the building, according to his parents. The police, on the other hand, have refuted the accusations. Banerjee, speaking at a public meeting in Howrah, said, "I've requested a SIT led by DG, with a report due in 15 days. A comprehensive investigation will be conducted, and the perpetrators will be held accountable." The Chief Minister urged people not to be misled by false information about the situation.
