Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee initiated an all-faith harmony rally in the city on Monday, coinciding with the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya later in the day. The spirited TMC leader, accompanied by religious leaders from diverse faiths and party members, commenced the 'Sanghati March' from Hazra More in Kolkata. Dressed in her signature white and blue bordered cotton sari, complemented by a shawl around her neck, Ms. Banerjee warmly greeted people and onlookers along the road with folded hands. The Chief Minister kicked off the rally after offering prayers at the iconic Kalighat temple in the city. Despite her earlier criticism of the BJP's Ram temple event as a "gimmick show before the Lok Sabha polls," Ms. Banerjee is spearheading the rally, visiting various places of worship representing different religions, including mosques, churches, and gurdwaras. The rally is scheduled to conclude at the Park Circus Maidan, where a massive gathering is anticipated.
