West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee pays tribute to Kargil martyrs

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday paid tributes to the 1999 Kargil war martyrs. Taking to her official Twitter handle, Mamata wrote: "On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, salutes to all those brave soldiers who gave their lives to keep our country safe,"

India observes Kargil Diwas on July 26 to salute its soldiers who fought against Pakistani soldiers and guerrillas who sneaked into Jammu and Kashmir in 1999. July 26  marks the 22nd anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas.  The Kargil day is a symbol of bravery and sacrifice of the Indian Army. The day is to remember the supreme sacrifice of Indian Bravehearts in the Kargil war against Pakistan. 22 years ago today, the army had given a crushing defeat to Pakistan in Kargil.

Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind is scheduled to visit Dras today to pay homage to the indomitable courage and sacrifice of the Indian armed forces during the Kargil conflict of 1999 at the Kargil War Memorial.
