What are the risk factors in pregnancy?

A risk factor in pregnancy is something that can cause harm to both the mother and the infant. Some of the risk factors are:

Mothers under the age of 18 years could have problems due to underdeveloped pelvis. Women aged 35 years or older may have other complications such as high blood pressure, still births etc. Women with low hemoglobin levels may have problems like Post Partum Hemorrhage. Women whose height is less than 5 feet. Having repeated pregnancies increases the risk of rapid labor. Women suffering from other chronic diseases like heart disease or diabetes. Women who have had miscarriages earlier. When a mother has a weight of less than 42 kgs. Complications may arise due to twin pregnancies.
