When 'Sir' Ravindra Jadeja was banned for a year, such was the comeback

New Delhi: The first title of the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament was won by Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2008. In the first season of the tournament, there was a young player in the champion team, captained by Shane Warne, who caught everyone's attention. That 'sir' was Ravindra Jadeja. Rajasthan had selected Jadeja from the Under-19 team. Jadeja was a member of the 2008 World Cup-winning Under-19 Team India. He has now been made the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). For him, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has left the captaincy.

All-rounder Jadeja had scored 430 runs in the first two IPL seasons. During this time, he scored 135 runs in the first season at a strike rate of 131.06. With the help of which RR, who was considered to be the underdog, had already won the title in the season. Jadeja got his best reward in the following year i.e. in 2009 when he made his international debut for the Indian cricket team. He made his debut in a one-day match against Sri Lanka on 8 February 2009. After this, 2010 was not a good year in Jadeja's life. During this time, he was banned for one year, holding him guilty of violating the Code of Conduct.

In fact, a complaint was filed against Jadeja after the 2009 IPL season. He was accused of trying to strike a better rupee deal with other franchises while in a contract with the RR team. The Rajasthan team had signed a contract with Jadeja for three seasons in 2008. However, Jadeja wanted to stay with the team only till 2009. In such a situation, Jadeja was convicted and he was banned for a year.

According to a statement by the IPL Governing Council, Jadeja had then attempted to strike a deal with Mumbai Indians (MI). He had then also offered to send documents to the representative of the Mumbai team. Jadeja has so far played 200 matches in the IPL, in which he has scored 2386 runs at an average of 27.11. During this time Jadeja has also scored two-fifty. He has also taken 127 wickets in his IPL career. Jadeja has been his best performance to take 5 wickets for 16 runs in a match.
