New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) witnessed a major reshuffle on Thursday (March 24). In fact, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has stepped down from the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and in his place, star-star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been handed over the reins of the team. Let us know that CSK retained 4 players including Jadeja and Dhoni this time.

CSK retained Jadeja for Rs 16 crore, while Dhoni was retained for Rs 12 crore for this season. From this, it was initially speculated that Jadeja could be made the captain. Apart from these two stalwarts, Moeen Ali was retained for Rs 8 crore and Rituraj Gaikwad for Rs 6 crore. Jadeja has been a part of CSK since 2012 and will now be the third captain of the CSK team. Since the first season of the IPL i.e. 2008, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was handling the reins of the team. Dhoni has captained CSK in 213 matches and led the team to victory in 130 matches. At the same time, in the middle, Suresh Raina has also captained in 6 matches, out of which the team had won only 2 matches.

The CSK management has decided to make this major change in the captaincy just two days before the start of the IPL. The tournament will begin on March 26. The first match is going to be played between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Under Jadeja's captaincy, CSK will take the field this time with the intention of defending their title and winning the 5th title.

There is great news for Dhoni's fans, they will dance with joy.
