New Delhi:In view of the growing threat of Omicron new variants of the Rona virus, there is a growing demand for booster doses in many other countries, including India. However, no decision has yet been taken on booster doses in the country. But Dr. V.K. Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog clarified that a decision on the need and timing of booster dose in this regard will be taken on scientific basis. NITI Aayog member (Health) Dr VK Paul told the media on Wednesday that the government is closely monitoring any changes in the pattern of emerging corona cases in the country. He reiterated the central government's stand that the need to give booster doses of corona vaccine and timely decision will be based on 'scientific decision'. The top government health official also said that symptoms of corona virus are always mild in the early stages. Dr VK Paul said, 'The Health Minister has also said in Parliament that the decision on the need, time and nature of the booster dose, if any, will be based on a scientific decision. Corona always comes with mild symptoms in the early stages. We are carefully monitoring the change at any level on the pattern of presentation of emerging cases.'
