Which Gulf state paid Imran Khan to derail CPEC?

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) President, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan was paid by a Gulf state to derail the  CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) and sink the Gwadar Port project.

After attending a jirga of tribal elders from the North Waziristan district, the JUI-F chairman told the media that the PTI damaged the nation's new economic pillars. He added that one of these pillars was China's investment and that CPEC was a whole economic package rather than just a route.

"The second-largest deep-sea port in Asia is Gwadar. Gwadar was perceived as a danger by some nations. The best port for trade would have been there. The initiative suffered significant harm at the hands of PTI" he said.

He said that a significant portion of the funds donated to the Abraaj Group came from a Gulf state and wewasntended to derail the Gwadar Port project. He asserted, "Now we can see that the depth of the sea has diminished to barely 11 feet." Fazl claimed that the PDM truly accepted the challenge it faced by assuming power.

He said that Ministers had been invited to the meeting in order for the administration to provide a full briefing to the PDM on the economic status of the nation on Tuesday and Wednesday. After that, a strategy would be implemented for economic stability, the chief added.
