New Delhi: The performance of Indian women gymnasts in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships was very poor. No Indian female gymnast qualified for finals in individual events. In the women's all-round qualification, Pranati Nayak was ranked 127th and 132nd respectively with 45.832 points and Pranati Das 45.248. In the vault event, Pranati Nayak scored 14.200 points in her first attempt but in the second attempt, she was eliminated from the finals due to 'neutral deduction'. She finished 27th in vault qualification. Pranati Nayak won the bronze medal at the Senior Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championship in Mongolia earlier this year and Aruna won the bronze medal at the 2018 Gymnastics World Cup. In the 'Universe Bars Qualification', Pranati Nayak finished with 10.566 points, Pranati Das with 9.916 and Aruna Reddy with 8.925 and 164th, 182nd and 193rd respectively. The situation was also similar in 'Balance Beam Qualification', in which Pranati Das (10.866), Aruna Reddy (10.200) and Pranati Nayak (9.933) finished 138th, 164th and 174th respectively. In 'Floor Exercise Qualification', Pranati Das (11.466) and Pranati Nayak (11.133) finished 151st and 179th respectively, while Aruna Reddy could not finish. Dipa, the first Indian gymnast to qualify for the Olympics, finished fourth in the Rio Olympic vault finals.
