New Delhi: India's star wrestler Sarita Devi's performance in the ongoing World Women's Boxing Championship in Russia was disappointing. Former champion Sarita Devi lost in the match against Russia's Natalia Shadrina. With this defeat, she was also eliminated from the World Women's Boxing Championship. Fourth seed Sarita, who got a bye in the first round, failed to take advantage of a good start and lost 0–5.

India had to look for another disappointment in the final bout of the day where debutant Nandini (81 kg) could not stand up to Germany's Irina Nicoletta Schönberger and lost 0–5. Gold Medalist winner Sarita of New Delhi World Women's Championship 2006 was competing for her first medal in this prestigious competition in more than a decade.

The boxing of the multiple-time Asian champion Manipur appeared to be completely under control in the first three minutes and he threw more punches at his opponent. Shadrina, however, managed to make a comeback in the next two rounds and showed Sarita an exit.
