Sagar Murder Case: Wrestler Sushil Kumar to appears in Rohini Court, crime branch can seek remand

New Delhi: Wrestler Sushil Kumar was called in Rohini court today in connection with the murder of 23-year-old wrestler Sagar Dhankhar at Chhatrasal Stadium. Sushil Kumar and his accomplice Ajay were produced before the court around 3 pm. The crime branch team is expected to seek 8 days remand and remand of Sushil from the court.

The crime branch may seek remand taking him to several locations and interrogating several other arrested accused face to face. Earlier, the Delhi High Court had refused to hear a petition urging the media to stop "sensationalising" Sushil Kumar's case and frame proper rules for reporting criminal cases, saying a PIL cannot be filed for a person who is "well known".

A Delhi court had on May 23 sent Kumar to six days police custody for questioning in connection with the murder and said the charges against him were serious and no one was above the law. Kumar and his accomplices had allegedly attacked wrestler Sagar Dhankhar and his two friends Sonu and Amit Kumar on the night of May 4 and 5 at Chhatrasal Stadium here. Sagar later died of injury.
