JERUSALEM: At least one person was killed and 15 others were wounded in two separate explosions that targeted bus stations in Jerusalem on Wednesday, security and medical officials said.
Israel's Minister of Public Security called the blasts "attacks".
The first blast occurred on the outskirts of the city, near a bus stop where commuters often congregate while waiting for buses.
The second sound was heard in Ramoth, a district north of the city. Israeli rescue agency Magen David Adom reported that four people were seriously injured in the blasts, and police said that one person died from his injuries.

The alleged attacks come at a time when tensions between Israel and Palestine are at an all-time high, following months of Israeli raids in the occupied West Bank that were brought on by a series of deadly attacks against Israelis that killed 19 people. Had gone. The number of attacks by Palestinians has increased recently.
The violence comes even as former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to form Israel's most right-wing government following the country's elections and is currently holding coalition talks.
According to preliminary findings of the police, both the sites had explosive devices installed. Police temporarily closed a section of a major highway leading out of the city after the twin blasts during rush hour. In a video taken shortly after the initial explosion, pieces of debris lay across the pavement as ambulances screeched.
There was a crazy explosion. Yosef Haim Gebe, a doctor who was at the scene of the first blast, told Israeli Army Radio, "There is damage everywhere. I saw people bleeding from wounds everywhere."
While Palestinians have recently had incidents of shootings, car collisions and stabbings, bombing attacks have decreased significantly since the end of a Palestinian uprising nearly twenty years ago.

The Gaza-based Islamic militant group Hamas, which once attacked Israelis with suicide bombings, praised the attackers and called it a brave effort but refrained from taking responsibility for the attacks.
Abd al-Latif al-Kanua, a Hamas spokesman, said that "the occupation is paying the price for its crimes and aggression against our people."
Itamar Ben-Gvir, an extremist lawmaker who advocates the death penalty for Palestinian attackers and hopes to take over from Netanyahu as police minister, said the attack prompted him to take a more aggressive approach toward Palestinian attackers .
"The time has come to give order and take a firm stand against terrorists," he tweeted. This year, fighting between Israelis and Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem has claimed the lives of more than 130 Palestinians, making 2022 the deadliest year since 2006.
According to the Israeli military most of the Palestinians killed were militants. But there have also been deaths of youths pelting stones in protest against infiltration and unrelated persons.
