Farmers' Protest: 10 big farmer organizations handover support letter to Agriculture Minister

New Delhi: Farmers are protesting on the Delhi border against the new agricultural laws brought by the Central government. The leaders of a total of 10 farmers' organizations from various states met with Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Monday amid protests from some farmer organizations in Punjab and Haryana, demanding the withdrawal of the law and guarantee of minimum support price (MSP). 

40 MLAs and MPs of Haryana have also met Narendra Singh Tomar and supported the farmers. They also discussed the positive effects of the law. Agriculture Minister Tomar said that farmers' organizations from several states including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana and Haryana affiliated to the All India Kisan Coordination Committee had their views on agricultural reform laws in detail. Tomar said that the farmers' unions should put their views on the government's proposal, then a meeting will be held.

The leaders of the farmers' organizations agitating against the three new agricultural laws of the Center had on Monday indicated a day-long hunger strike to intensify their movement. Supporting this movement, various farmer organizations have also organized agitations at district headquarters across the country.
