Srinagar: Three more Indian soldiers, who were injured in a fierce encounter with militants in the Keeran sector of Kupwara on Sunday, have died. With this, the number of soldiers killed in this encounter has increased to 8. Five terrorists were killed in this encounter. While a total of 9 terrorists were killed and 10 soldiers were martyred in the Valley in the last 48 hours, two of whom committed suicide. Meanwhile, three families in South Kashmir have claimed that 3 of the 5 terrorists killed yesterday are their sons.

A young soldier was martyred on the first occasion while stacking 5 terrorists in the Karen encounter yesterday. And then four, including a JCO, died in the hospital. About a dozen soldiers were injured in this encounter because the encounter was very gruesome. This was the reason that three of the injured died this morning. The eight jawans and JCOs who were martyred were stationed in the Para Commands Unit and Jat Regiment.

However, yesterday in Jammu and Kashmir, 2 soldiers committed suicide by shooting themselves, due to which the number of soldiers who died in the valley reached 10 in the last 48 hours. Similarly, four terrorists were killed the day before yesterday and 5 were killed yesterday. Meanwhile, three families in South Kashmir have claimed that three of the terrorists who were killed in the Keeran encounter yesterday were their sons. Two of these families are residents of Shopian district and one is a resident of Kulgam.
