In yet another shocking incident comes to light from Tamil Nadu’s Cuddalore where a 16-year-old repeatedly raped a 14-year-old girl. He impregnated the girl. As per the information, The minor accused has been arrested by the police.
According to the information, Both the victim and the accused stay in the same locality. They are school dropouts. As of now a case has been registered against the minor accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and further investigation is going case. The case came to light after the girl was taken to a government hospital after she complained of stomach pain.
After this the doctors conducted few tests on the girl which confirmed that she was three months pregnant. The victim revealed to the doctors that she was in a relationship with a 16-year-old boy of her locality. The girl further told that the boy had repeatedly entered into a physical relationship with her. The complaint was filed by the doctors, following which the d boy was booked under Sections 5 and 6 of the POSCO Act.
As of now the accused has been sent to the Cuddalore Government Observation Centre. To safeguard children against sexual abuse and sexual harassment, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 was enacted. The ACT provides safeguards for children against sexual abuse. The POCSO Act 2012 provides for the establishment of Special Courts for the purpose of ensuring speedy trial. The Act was amended in 2019 to introduce more stringent punishment including death penalty for committing sexual crimes on children.
