A 19-year-old girl committed suicide in Patharquarry, Guwahati, after her parents allegedly refused her permission to go on a picnic with her friends.

She was found hanging dead from the ceiling of her room on Monday evening, and the event was reported. Her parents stated that they were not at home at the time of the incident.

She was a Guwahati College first-semester student. According to reports, the girl's parents had banned her from attending a picnic in Hatisila.  She was allegedly upset after being denied permission and had gone to extremes. Despite the fact that she was taken to a hospital after being discovered by her parents, doctors declared her dead.

The police, on the other hand, have launched an inquiry to establish if she committed herself or if the incident was a murder.
