Two medical colleges of Bhopal seeks permission for plasma therapy trial from ICMR

The administration is doing everything possible to avoid the coronavirus. Plasma therapy can be started soon in the capital Bhopal for the treatment of patients infected with the coronavirus. Two medical colleges in the city have sought permission from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for its trial. These include the Government Gandhi Medical College and a private medical college. ICMR can decide on the application of medical colleges in 2-3 days. On getting permission, plasma therapy trials will start in both medical colleges. The trial was successful only then the patients would get treatment for this therapy.

In the body of patients who are cured of Coronavirus infection, an antibody is formed against the virus. Plasma present in the blood of such patients is injected into the patients' body. There is a possibility of developing immunity against the virus in the body of the patient. Experts believe that plasma therapy can prove to be very effective in treating coronavirus infection. ICMR has sought applications from large medical institutions across the country for participation in this study.

ICMR has given permission to the trial of plasma therapy only to a few selected institutions in the country. About 135 patients of the Chirayu Medical College who applied for permission have returned home after recovering from the virus infection. These patients can initiate a trial of plasma with permission.
