Thane: The global epidemic in Maharashtra is not going to stop the coronavirus, while people on the other hand are not accepting it. An example of this has been seen in Thane district of the state. Two prisoners admitted to the Covid Care Centre in Bhiwandi here escaped on Friday after which four policemen have been suspended.

An official said, the two prisoners escaped from the toilet on the 15th floor of the complex, which is being used as a covid care center, at 4.30 am. An official of Kangaon police station informed that "Both were among the 30 prisoners of Adharwadi jail in Kalyan who were admitted on April 19.  Four policemen on duty at The Covid Care Centre have since been suspended and efforts are on to arrest the duo".

State that 66,836 new cases of corona infection have been registered in Maharashtra on Friday. At the same time, 773 patients succumbed to corona. The Health Department has reported that 74,045 people have also recovered during this period. At present, 6,91,851 people are undergoing treatment in the state. In Maharashtra, 41,61,676 people have been infected with corona so far and 63,252 patients have lost their lives.
