200 Sickened After Consuming 'Prasad' at Maharashtra Religious Event

Around 200 people have fallen ill after consuming 'prasad' at a religious event in Maharashtra's Buldhana district. The incident occurred during the 'Harinam Saptah' event in Lonar, with attendees experiencing symptoms like nausea and vomiting. According to officials, 142 individuals were admitted to the rural hospital at Bibi, 20 to a facility in Lonar, and 35 to another facility in Mehkar. Fortunately, all patients are in stable condition, with many already discharged. Authorities have deployed a team of doctors in the village along with medical equipment, and samples of the prasad have been sent for analysis. An inquiry into the incident is also underway.

The incident unfolded during the 'Harinam Saptah', a week-long religious gathering, in Somthana village, Lonar taluka. Following the consumption of the prasad, villagers started experiencing symptoms of illness. Prompt medical attention was provided, with patients being distributed across different medical facilities for treatment. Fortunately, the majority of those affected have shown signs of improvement and have been discharged. In order to prevent any further health risks, authorities have initiated an inquiry into the matter and are awaiting the results of the prasad analysis from the laboratory. Measures have also been taken to ensure that medical assistance remains readily available in the village should any further emergencies arise.
