Tensions erupted in Amravati, Maharashtra, following controversial remarks made by Hindu seer Yati Narsinghanand Maharaj about Prophet Muhammad. A large crowd gathered outside the Nagpuri Gate police station, demanding action against the seer, leading to a violent confrontation where 21 police officers were injured.

The police have registered a case against the seer from Ghaziabad for his remarks, which were seen as inflammatory. The situation intensified when a video of the seer’s comments circulated on social media, prompting a mob to return to the police station after initially dispersing.

The crowd's aggression escalated into stone-pelting, injuring several officers and damaging 10 police vehicles. Senior officials intervened, and additional forces were deployed to control the chaos.

In response to the unrest, authorities implemented prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), restricting gatherings in the area. Legal action has been initiated against around 1,200 people involved in the incident, with 26 individuals already identified.

Yati Narsinghanand Maharaj is now facing serious charges, including inciting religious discord. The police are continuing their investigation and have called for maintaining peace in the region.
