A 21-year-old girl has been allegedly raped and murdered in Udalguri district of Assam. The body of the girl was recovered from near a river at Gerugaon in Udalguri district. Notably, after the recovery of the body of the victim, it was suspected that she had committed suicide. But, later bruises on the face, other parts of the body led to suspicion of rape and murder.

FIR has been lodged in the Rowta Police Station, accusing Shalman Changma of the heinous crime. The victim was in a relationship with the accused Shalman Changma. Notably, the victim went missing on December 28. The  Victim'sfamily searched for her but could not find her.

Changma’s family had at first denied that the victim was at their place. However, later Changma’s family admitted that the victim stayed at their residence. Meanwhile, locals and family member of the victim have alleged that the police are yet to take any concrete step in the case.
