New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla made it compulsory for all MPs to get corona test done for the monsoon session of Parliament lasting till October 1, after which 24 MPs have tested corona positive before the start of the session today. Of these, BJP has the maximum 12 MPs, while two of YRS Congress, one each of Shiv Sena, DMK, and RLP.

Sources have said that on 13 and 14 September, the Coronavirus screening of Lok Sabha members was carried out in Parliament House. One of the infected MPs of BJP, Sukanta Majumdar tweeted yesterday about his coronavirus get infected. According to the information received, the MPs who have been found corona infected include Meenakshi Lekhi, Anant Kumar Hegde, and Parvesh Sahib Singh. On the first day of the session, around 200 members were present in the Lok Sabha chamber and more than 30 were placed in the visitor's gallery located above the main hall.

About 200 people out of 785 MPs are over 65 years old, out of which the maximum corona infected. Before this, at least seven Union ministers, about 25 MPs and MLAs have got corona infected. An MP and some MLAs have died due to this epidemic. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also had a corona, although he has recovered.
