Lucknow: An ordinance has been promulgated to set up a Special Security Force (SSF) in Uttar Pradesh on the lines of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Thereafter, the process of framing its rules has also begun. Up SSF, which is deployed in the security of all important sites including airports, metros, courts, will have all the powers that CISF enjoys.

Up SSF will also file an FIR, search and arrest. A roadmap for setting up of Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UP SSF) is under preparation following the High Court's order to set up special forces to protect courts. The UPSSF will have 9919 jawans with five battalions. Lucknow will have headquarters. The ADG level officer under DGP will head up SSF.

5 battalions of UP SSF will be set up in the state, but it will start with PAC personnel. The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment Board will also initiate the recruitment process for this special force in the coming time. Up to Rs 1747 crore will be charged in 1 year. On the lines of CISF, up SSF will also have all the rights to conduct searches, arrest, custodial inquiries. Not only that, upssf will be given the power of the police station, including the incoming, so that it should follow the legal process as well.
