25 criminals caught smuggling cows, villagers handed over to police

Khandwa: In Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh, villagers have caught 25 miscreants smuggling cows. The villagers allege that all of them were carrying govans in 8 pick-up vehicles in the dark of the night, while the villagers gazed at them and all of them were caught in the crossfire. After the arrest of the accused, the villagers reported the phone to the police.

The police on the spot also seized 22 cows from the possession of the culprits. Some of the arrested accused are residents of Sihor and some of Harda districts. Some locals are also involved. Villagers say it had been going on for a long time in the surrounding areas of the village. The villagers were suspected of seeing the activities of these people several times, after which the villagers nabbed them at night between Sanwali Khera and Kotha village of Khalwa tehsil.

The villagers noticed that around two dozen vans were crushed in these small vehicles. The villagers tied all the accused with rope and then brought them to the Khalwa police station. On the way, the villagers also shouted slogans of cow mother jai from the criminals. A part of Khalwa tehsil in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh is adjacent to the Maharashtra border. The Govans smugglers take advantage of this and reach Maharashtra to find the hidden Govans stolen through the Khalwa-Dartalai forest. Police have registered a case against them under the Govans Trafficking and Animal Cruelty Act.
