Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has strongly criticized Congress leader Sam Pitroda for his recent remarks, labeling them as 'racist' and indicative of the mindset promoted by Rahul Gandhi's mentor. Pitroda, who heads the Indian Overseas Congress, stirred up a storm with his comments suggesting that individuals from different regions of India resemble various ethnicities.
Taking to X platform, Sitharaman countered, "I hail from South India and I undeniably look Indian! My team comprises enthusiastic members from the northeast, and they look Indian too! Similarly, my colleagues from western India look Indian as well!"
She further added, "But according to the racist mentor of @RahulGandhi, we all supposedly resemble Africans, Chinese, Arabs, and Caucasians! Thank you for unveiling your biased mindset and attitude. It's a disgrace to the I.N.D.I alliance!"
Pitroda had made these controversial remarks during a podcast interview with a media outlet, where he stated, "We could hold the country as diverse as India together. Where people in the east look like the Chinese, people in the west look like the Arabs, people in the north look like, maybe, white and people in the south look like Africans. It does not matter. All of us are brothers and sisters. We respect different languages, different religions, different customs, different food."
