Mumbai: According to the NCRB report, there has been an 18 percent increase in farmer suicide incidents in 2020. Unfortunately, Maharashtra has the highest number of the suicide of farmers. On the other hand, it is now being reported that most of the farmers in the Beed district of Maharashtra have committed suicide. In just 30 days, 25 farmers have died. It's a big question as to why this happened.

On this, farmer leaders say that crops have been damaged due to heavy rains. Farmers are not able to bear this pain. On the other hand, the government says that after heavy rains, crop inspections and now the actual amount of damage have started being credited to the bank accounts of the farmers. The Maharashtra government has announced a compensation package of 10,000 crore rupees. But farmer leaders say that if the government is thinking that this compensation amount will compensate the farmers, it is not so. Crop losses can be compensated with money, but what about the families of farmers who have lost their lives in depression after seeing crops damaged due to heavy rains?

Agriculture economist Devinder Sharma has questioned whether the Maharashtra government is not able to handle even a single district. In districts with more difficulty in farming, the centre and the state need to work together to improve the condition of farmers by giving special packages. So that the farmer is not forced to do suicide. It is a matter of great concern that so many farmers are doing suicide in the same month in the same district. The largest corporates in Maharashtra are sitting, doesn't it their duty to help the distressed farmers?
