Madurai : The 292nd Kurumaka Sannidanam Arunagirinathar passed away last night due to ill health. He was 77 years old. Arunagirinathar suddenly fell ill on the 9th due to old age. Immediately he went to Madurai K.K. He was admitted to a private hospital in the city. His health is worrying. Doctors were giving him intensive treatment. In this condition he disappeared last night without the benefit of treatment. His death has been mourned by various quarters.

Nithiyananda has issued a statement saying that I am the next Athena after his demise. He said a week of mourning would be observed in Kailasa due to the death of Arunagiri Nath and the Kailasa flag would be flown at half-mast. But that did not stop there. On April 27, 2012, Srilasree Arunagirinata formally appointed me as the next Athena, the 293rd Athena, according to the enlightened National Paramacharya Swamis. Accordingly, I, Srilasree Nithyananda Gnanasampantha National Paramachariya Swami, am the heir, descendant and descendant of Madurai Athena. Accordingly, I have stated that I have all the legal, spiritual and ceremonial rights and obligations of the Madurai Athena.

But now Harihar Desikar has been elected as the 293rd Abbot. Hariharar Desikar was crowned as a prince in 2019 by Athena Arunagirinath of Madurai. Thiruvaduthurai Aadeenam has said that Hariharar Desikar will be crowned Madurai Aadeenam in 10 days.
