Melbourne: Water shortage in Australia has caused outrage. Meanwhile, news is coming that the thieves have stolen three lakh liters of water from the drought-hit area of New South Wales. Giving information on Thursday, a police official said that the police are on the lookout for the thieves who stole three lakh liters (79,000 gallons) of water amid the ongoing drought in the country.

Police said the thieves stole two tanks of water from a private property in Evans Plains in the state of New South Wales, three hours west of Sydney. Police have said that the theft was detected on Sunday, but the theft took place during the last two weeks. He said that the police are questioning the people living around the spot. Police are trying to find out if there is any person who has seen water tankers or vehicles from Evans Plains area.

Giving information, a police spokesman said that, "Due to prolonged drought and lack of water, the possibility of crime in New South Wales has increased. I think that due to recent conditions with drought etc., thieves have carried out this incident.
