Patna: So far, 32 people have lost their lives in Bhagalpur, Nowgachhia and Amarpur blocks of Banka due to consumption of spurious liquor in Bihar on Holi. The families of the victims said they had consumed alcohol. More than six people are undergoing treatment at JLN Medical College Hospital. The doctors say that there is a danger of losing their eyesight. However, the administration is not willing to accept the plea of the family members for consuming spurious liquor.

Meanwhile, three deaths each were reported in the Kajraeli and Goradih areas of Bhagalpur under suspicious circumstances. But the administration has maintained silence in this regard. The deceased have been identified as Chakradhar Prasad Singh, Arun Yadav of Kumrath village, Aditya Kumar alias Chunna of Vishrampur. All three are residents of the Kajraeli police station area. The deaths of Yadav's son Rohit Yadav, Gulshan Yadav, son of Vishnu Yadav and Santosh Kumar of Salpur village of Punak Mohanpur village under Goradih police station have been reported.  

Bhagalpur's SDO Dhananjay Kumar said the cause of death is being ascertained. The exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report comes. Poonam, wife of deceased Vinod Rai, said her husband had consumed alcohol along with others while playing Holi on Saturday. Since then, his health has deteriorated. He died after being admitted to the hospital.
