A four-storey residential building collapsed in the Nalasopara area of Palghar district in Maharashtra on Wednesday, although no one was harmed in the incident. Chief Fire Officer of Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation, Dilip Palav has said that no casualties were reported in this incident.

The officer has told that 23 members of 5 families were living in this building. This building is located on Achole Road in Nalasopara. People living in the building came out of their houses before time. The building collapsed at around 1:30 pm on Tuesday. This building was constructed in the year 2009 and there were cracks in the building. Some time ago it was declared dangerous and the owner was issued a notice, after which fifteen of the twenty families living vacated the houses.

The remaining 5 families spoke on Tuesday night talked about evacuating the building. After the talk, a couple living on the fourth floor went to fetch some money from their residence and were walking out of the main gate of the building that the building collapsed. At the same time, people present on the stairs of the lower floor were also evacuated. Nityanant Devrukhakar, who lives in the building, told that it is God's grace that we survived. Another woman has told that they were all staying in the building because they had no place to go anywhere due to corona pandemic and lockdown.
