New Delhi: The Swachh Ganga Nidhi Kosh (Clean Ganga Fund), set up to ensure public participation in the cleanliness and continuity of river Ganga, has accumulated Rs 453 crore in the last six years. Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Director General, National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) said, "As of March 2021, an amount of Rs. 453 crore has been deposited in the Clean Ganga Fund and several major projects are being run through it".

As per the information received from NMCG, the projects run under Clean Ganga Fund include development of Gaurikund near Kedarnath by Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, cleaning of 5 drains, reconstruction of ghats and crematory, construction of Har Ki Pauri complex in Haridwar and afforestation in various areas. The Swachh Ganga Nidhi received about Rs 14.18 crore in 2020-2021. Petronet LNG Ltd. has given Rs 1.5 crore.

Power Grid Corporation has also contributed over Rs 1 crore. AAI Cargo Logistics contributed Rs 1.45 crore. Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwar Dharmautthan Trust, Karnataka has donated Rs 15 lakh. It may be recalled that the Clean Ganga Fund Fund was formed in the year 2015. Rajiv Ranjan Mishra has said that the 34th Executive Committee meeting of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) was held recently. The meeting reviewed the projects under the Namami Gange programme and brainstormed on the outline of further works.
