Punjab govt announces 5th-8th and 10th children to be promoted without examination

Amritsar: Due to the increasing infection of corona in Punjab, CM Captain Amarinder Singh has announced promotion of students of class V-VIII and X to the next class without examination. The Government has not yet taken any decision on the 12th examinations. The government will take a decision in this regard soon.

Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh held a review meeting with higher authorities on the corona situation in the state on Thursday. CM Amarinder said that all educational institutions in the state have already been ordered to be closed by April 30. However, keeping in view the safety of students in the age group of 11 to 20 years who are preparing for the examination, it is necessary to cancel the examinations. Students of Class V who have appeared for four of the five subjects.

The Punjab State Education Board will now declare the results on the basis of marks obtained in the examinations in four subjects. The 8th and 10th exam results will be declared on the basis of marks obtained in pre-board examination and internal assessment.
